A Special Visitor to St Mary's
Tuesday 22 November 2016 was an historic day. It was the centenary of Sir George White's death and his tomb in our churchyard was visited by his great grandson, the current Sir George White, who laid a wreath. He arrived in a car built in 1903 - a French Panhard Lavassor - which was given by Sir George to his son as a 21st birthday present. Sir George White is St Mary's most famous 'son' being the founder of the Bristol Aeroplane Company and of Bristol Trams and Buses.
